Community Centres are the basic cultural centres of the Municipality. Despite of the economic obstacles the community centres in the municipality were saved. They are original centres where the traditional Bulgarian culture is preserved and developed. The funds of the libraries are renewed with new fiction and specialised literature.


Good conditions have been created for the development of the six children’s folklore groups and the eight teams for authentic folklore. The folklore festivals in the municipality are held following a special schedule. The children’s and youth wind orchestra with Creative Director Kostadin Pavlov has been announced the best in the country on numerous occasions. More than 450 children were trained in it. Some of them work now for the opera orchestras in Cairo, Vienna, Bogota, Berlin. The orchestra has participated in competitions and concert tours in Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, France, Belgium and Finland.

The poet Andrei Germanov and Ivan Valchev, the founder of the museum Dimitar Zlatarski, the academician Atanas Atanasov and the professors Strashimir Dimitrov and Georgi Germanov started their creative path and scientific activity in the municipality.
